Why SkateCred Marketplace exists
A season is all it takes to outgrow a pair
Skating gear is expensive, and children outgrow it in a season. Most skating families have a pair of boots, a set of wheels or a full kit sitting in a cupboard with years of use left in it, and somewhere not far away is another family looking for exactly that. There was no obvious place for the two to find each other, so it happened badly, in WhatsApp groups where a message scrolls out of sight in a day, or it did not happen at all and the gear stayed in the cupboard.
SkateCred already runs the records side of Indian skating -- medals, rankings, club rosters -- which is where this came from: a marketplace attached to that gave us two things a general classifieds site cannot offer on its own. Fields that actually describe skating equipment (boot size, wheel durometer, frame length) instead of a generic description box, and a way to show that a seller is a real skating parent or coach without asking them to fill in a form.
Who it is for
Anyone 18 or over with a SkateCred account, anywhere in India. You do not need a club, a competition record, or an existing SkateCred profile at all -- listing gear takes nothing more than signing in. Buyers browse without an account; only contacting a seller needs one.
What can be sold
Any skating equipment, from a first pair to race gear:
- Inline Skates
- Quad Skates
- Ice Skates
- Artistic Skating
- Roller Hockey
- Ice Hockey
- Skateboards
- Protective Gear
- Parts & Accessories
- Apparel
Every listing states condition in a full sentence, not just a word -- see what each one means below -- because a buyer judging a boot they cannot hold needs the sentence, not the label.
- New
- Never used, may still be boxed
- Like new
- Used a handful of times, no visible wear
- Good
- Regular use, everything works, minor marks
- Fair
- Visible wear, still fully usable
- Well used
- Heavily used or needs some work
Why not just use OLX or Facebook Marketplace?
You can, and plenty of skating families already do -- gear sale posts in WhatsApp groups are exactly what this replaces. What a general classifieds site cannot offer:
Verified sellers, automatically
The SkateCred Verified badge appears on any seller who also keeps a skating record here. No form, no approval, no fee.
Fields that fit the gear
Boot size in EU and US, wheels in millimetres and durometer, frames by length -- not a generic description box.
Condition, explained
Every listing says what its condition actually means, not just a single word a buyer has to guess at.
Questions people ask
Is SkateCred Marketplace safe to use?
SkateCred Marketplace lists gear on behalf of sellers and is not a party to any sale -- we do not hold payment or inspect items. Your phone number is never published, buyers reach you through the platform, and the SkateCred Verified badge shows which sellers also keep a skating record here. Beyond that, the usual precautions still apply: inspect gear in person before paying, meet somewhere public such as a rink or a club session, and do not pay in advance.
Who can sell on SkateCred Marketplace?
Anyone 18 or over with a SkateCred account. You do not need to be a competitive skater, belong to a club, or already have a profile on the main SkateCred product -- a parent with one pair of outgrown skates is a normal seller here, not an exception.
What can I sell?
Any skating equipment: inline skates, quad skates, ice skates, artistic and roller hockey gear, skateboards, protective gear, parts and accessories, and apparel. It has to be gear you actually own, honestly described, with your own photographs -- no stock images, no photographs of children even with consent, no counterfeit or stolen goods.
How much does it cost to list something?
Your first 2 listings are free, inside a 30-day window that opens when the first one goes live. After that, posting more requires a seller plan; existing listings are never taken down for this. See Marketplace Pro for prices.
Does a listing expire?
No. A listing stays live until you sell it, hide it or delete it -- there is no lifetime limit, free or paid. A listing that has not been touched in 45 days may sink lower in search results with a one-tap "still available?" prompt, but it is never hidden or removed for this.
What happens if I stop paying for a seller plan?
Your listings are hidden, not deleted, for a grace period -- 3 days on a monthly plan, 7 on an annual one. Renew inside that window and everything comes back exactly as it was. After it, photographs are permanently deleted and the listing cannot be restored.
What is the SkateCred Verified badge?
It shows a seller also keeps their child’s skating record on the main SkateCred product. It is automatic, not something you apply for: add your child on SkateCred, for free, and the badge appears on your listings by itself.
How do I contact a seller?
Through the listing page -- by phone, WhatsApp, or an enquiry email, depending on what the seller has enabled. Numbers are never published on the page itself; you see a masked number and reveal it in-app.
How is this different from OLX or Facebook Marketplace?
It is built for one category rather than everything. Listings describe boot size, wheel durometer and frame length instead of a generic description box, condition is explained in a sentence rather than a single word, and sellers can be verified through the same records platform that already tracks their skating achievements.
